Maj Gen Pramod Saighal retired in 2002 as the Head of Army Air Defence College wherein he trained officers in Nano-Technology, Information Technology, Electronic Warfare, Radars and Computers.
Prior to that he trained over three thousand officers of Indian and 30 foreign Armies at Army War College Mhow. • He has also trained cadets of The National Defence Academy, Khadakvasla and The Officer's Training Academy, Chennai.
He is a pilot and a deep sea diver and has flown extensively in the North-East and J&K. • Post retirement he headed two NGOs in the field of education and disaster management and did some stellar work in Andaman & Nicobar Islands, post the Tsunami. He was involved with reconstruction of 400 schools and 10 hospitals after they were destroyed by the Tsunami.
Since 2004, he has been working on a mission whose primary aim is to add solidity to the lives of our children through a variety of workshops designed to improve their competitiveness and earning potential. Dr.Abdul Kalam, Dr. Manmohan Singh, several Chief Ministers, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, The Chinmaya Mission, Chancellors, Vice-Chancellors, Principals, parents and the students have commended him for these efforts.
Till date, he has counselled over 15.0 lakh children of schools, colleges and universities, across 25 states, completely gratis. • In 2007, he counselled 100,000 children of 200 schools at the same time from Leh-Kanyakumari-Bhuj-Arunachal through a unique interactive experiment involving JNV Schools, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and Ministry of HRD.
In 2011 and 2012, he counselled over 30,000 children in South, Central and North Kashmir at the behest of The Army and Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and another 10,000 Engineering students in Maharashtra. He has aso counselled children in dacoit-infested areas around Rewa and Satna at the behest of Chinmaya Mission.
In addition, he has addressed over a lakh of parents and tens of thousands of teachers. • In addition, he has also trained several thousand students for Civil Services and has been bestowed with Guru Samman for the same by Samkalp. He has appeared on the National TV more than 20,000 times as a Security cum Defence Expert.
He has been a key note speaker at several National and International Seminars conducted by Delhi University, IIT Delhi, JNU, Jamia Milia and India Habitat Centre. Besides this, he has been the Chief Guest at innumerable functions of colleges and universities across India.
